Free LeetCode alternatives in 2026, compared
LeetCode is the default for interview prep, but it is not the only way to practise. Here is what each popular alternative is best at, so you can choose by goal. We make DuelCoder, so we have tried to describe it as plainly as the others.

DuelCoder
Best when you already know the patterns but freeze under a clock. Two players get the same Blind 75 problem and the same time limit, and hidden tests decide the winner. Ranked Standard (35 minutes) and Speed (15 minutes) queues, friend challenges and a no-clock practice mode with hints. The problem set is smaller than LeetCode's, by design: it is the core interview list.
Codeforces and AtCoder
The home of competitive programming. Frequent rated contests and very large archives reward deep algorithmic knowledge and fast implementation. They are excellent for contest skills and less targeted at typical interview questions.
NeetCode
A structured roadmap built around the Blind 75 and the NeetCode 150, with video explanations for each problem. A strong choice for learning patterns in order; pair it with timed practice to build speed.
HackerRank
Widely used by companies for screening, with interview preparation kits and skill certifications. Useful for getting used to the format many online assessments use.
CodinGame
Turns programming into games: puzzles, bot-programming competitions and Clash of Code, short multiplayer rounds where a group races on the same task. Great fun and good for speed, less focused on classic interview problems.
Codewars, Exercism and GeeksforGeeks
Codewars builds fluency through community kata; Exercism teaches a language well, with optional mentoring; GeeksforGeeks is a large library of explanations and practice problems. They complement an interview list rather than replace it.
How to choose
- Interview in the next few weeks: learn the Blind 75 patterns, then practise them under a clock, alone or in duels.
- Competitive programming: Codeforces and AtCoder contests, plus upsolving afterwards.
- New language: Exercism or Codewars until the syntax is automatic.
- Practising with friends: DuelCoder friend challenges or CodinGame's Clash of Code.
Frequently asked questions
What is the best free LeetCode alternative?
It depends on the goal. For interview patterns under time pressure, DuelCoder's 1v1 duels; for competitive programming, Codeforces or AtCoder; for a structured roadmap with videos, NeetCode; for learning a language, Exercism or Codewars.
Is the Blind 75 enough for coding interviews?
It covers the core patterns most interviews draw on. Many candidates add a larger list such as the NeetCode 150 afterwards, but solving the Blind 75 quickly and reliably is the foundation.
Can I practise LeetCode-style problems with friends?
Yes. DuelCoder friend challenges put you and a friend on the same problem and clock in a live 1v1 duel, without changing your ratings.
